Free Healthy Recipe - Barbequed Sardines

Dairy free, Low carbohydrate

Sardines belong to the category of oily fish, rich in Omega 3 fat. They are one of the fishiest fish and can easily handle the flavours of additional herbs and spices without masking their distinct taste.

Ingredients
16 sardines filleted
1 tsp cumin, ground
1 tsp coriander, ground
3 cloves garlic, chopped
3 tbsp parsley, chopped
2 tsp paprika
1 red chilli deseeded and finely chopped
1 lemon juice and rind only
¼ cup olive oil
Method

Wipe the sardines clean.
Mix the other ingredients together in a small jar or bowl. Place the sardines in a glass dish and pour the marinade over the sardines to marinate for approx 1 hour.

Heat a BBQ plate and cook the sardines for 2 minutes each side.

Note: Studies have shown that cumin seeds may help to prevent many types of cancer, inhibit the growth of detrimental bacteria in the gut and lower elevated blood sugar levels.
