Table spreads made with plant sterols have been proven to help reduce high levels of LDL cholesterol, therefore they are better to use than butter which is high in saturated fat.
These make a lovely Christmas gift accompanied with a soft goat's cheese and compote (see recipe below).

Ingredients
11/3 cups coarse oatmeal
½ cup Tick approved tablespread, (suitable for baking)
pinch sea salt
cold water
Method

Using the dough blade of your food processor add the oats, flour, salt and spread. Mix together until the mixture resembles large breadcrumbs then slowly add enough cold water until it forms together into a stiff dough. Place the dough in a plastic bag in the freezer section of your fridge for about 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

Remove the dough from the plastic and roll it out on a floured board. Cut into biscuits about 3mm deep and 6cm in diameter.

Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden.

Makes 30 servings (serve = 1 biscuit)
