Place rice, milk, sultanas, cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom & nutmeg in a saucepan & bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Reduce heat & cook gently, partially covered, stirring often for 1-1 1/4 hrs or until rice is very soft & mixture has a porridge consistency.
Stir in half the almonds. Spoon into dishes & sprinkle with remaining almonds. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Will keep for 2 days in an airtight container in refrigerator. Warm before serving if using - add almonds just before serving.
