Free Healthy Recipe - Smoked Mackerel Pate

Dairy free, Low carbohydrate, Low fat

Smoked mackerel is available in supermarkets. On its own it's extremely strong and very salty, but combined with a soft sheep's yoghurt, lemon and wasabi it's delicious. This pate will store well in the fridge for up to 5 days. Serve it as an entrée to a main meal with some salad green and slices of avocado, or on oatcakes with fresh sprouts and slices of vine ripened tomatoes.

Ingredients
200 grams smoked mackerel
½ small lemon, juiced
Method

Remove the skin and bones from the mackerel and place in a small bowl.
Mix the wasabi powder with the lemon juice and then combine with the sheep's yoghurt.
Using a fork, chop the mackerel through the yoghurt mix and season with cracked black pepper.

Note: Wasabi powder free from added colourings is available from good health food stores. When made up into a paste it does not have the characteristic green colour.
