Free Healthy Recipe - Toddlers Quick Baked Beans

This recipe is not actually baked though traditionally, it is. Most kids love baked beans but the tins available in the supermarket are very high in sugar. This is an easy and tasty recipe using cannellini beans, that most kids will love.

Ingredients
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 small onion finely chopped
½ small carrot peeled and finely diced
1 small garlic clove finely chopped
400 grams tinned peeled tomatoes, pureed
400 grams tinned cannellini beans, drained and rinsed well
1 teaspoon fresh oregano, chopped
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Method

Heat a medium size frying pan and add olive oil. Add onion, garlic and carrot, and sauté on low heat for 5 minutes. Add tomato puree, beans and herbs. Let simmer for 15 minutes. Add maple syrup to taste and serve on toast, mashed potato, rice or pasta.

Store in the fridge for up to 2 days or portion out and freeze for up to 1 month.
