Apple cider vinegar

By: Lisa Costa Bir , Naturopath

Apple cider vinegar is a weak form of acetic acid. This acid (and thus vinegar) has been shown to help stop gastric acid from leaving the stomach. Regularly consuming apple cider vinegar helps to improve the quality of digestive juices in the gut simultaneously reducing risk of parasites but also improving break down of food in the stomach. Improved nutrient break down means better health and energy. I recommend organic raw unfiltered cider as it is nutritionally superior then others which may have undergone pasturisation or straining. Add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to warm water and drink for a kick start in the morning or use as part of a salad dressing for lunch and/or dinner.
