Slivered Almonds
Every pantry or fridge should have a packet of slivered almonds as they are the perfect companion to fresh steamed greens. Buy them in small packs from your local greengrocer and once opened store then in an airtight container in the fridge. For the best flavour and for extra crunch, dry roast slivered almonds in a baking tray moderate oven for about 7 minutes or in a small dry frying pan. Sprinkle the almonds over the vegetables after seasoning.
