A mild, soft cheese similar in texture to thick or sour cream. It has a smooth consistency similar to yoghurt, and is made with milk and a culture. Often known as fromage frais which in French means "fresh cheese".
Usually sold next to yoghurts in the dairy aisle of the supermarket. Buy higher end brands from a specialty cheese store.
Store in the fridge.
Tips & Tricks:
Replace with yoghurt in recipes if you can't find fromage blanc.
