Last Tuesday I was invited to attend a lunch to celebrate the launch of the 2011 apple season. We picked some of the first fruit of the season (sensational tasting Royal Gala) and learned all about the industry. It seemed appropriate therefore, if you are lamenting the end of the summer fruit season, to ignite your passion in new season apples and remind about how very good they are for you.

While stomach crunches have long been the answer to shedding abdominal fat, a new health report has revealed crunching of a tastier variety may also help to budge the bulge.

The 2010 Apple Report includes emerging science that shows a regular apple habit may help the "apple shaped" lose dangerous belly fat.
